Prayer

Prayer has been a distinguishing characteristic of the church throughout history. The Psalms are filled with exhortations to pray: “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you and you will honour me”( Psalm 50:15). Jesus offered regular and fervent prayer to his Father (Luke 5:16). The early church devoted itself to prayer (Acts 2:42). The Apostle Paul encourages believers to “pray without ceasing” (2 Thessalonians 5:17).

We follow the instruction of Scripture. During each service, prayers are offered for needs within and beyond our congregation. These prayers include adoration of our sovereign God, confession of our sins, thanksgiving for God’s blessings, and supplication (requests) for God’s care and help in every area of life and experience. Each week matters for prayer are listed in the bulletin. This list serves as a helpful reminder for church members for their daily family prayers.  Requests can be sent to prayer@cloverdalecanrc.org.
